November Newsletter
Eagle Valley Elementary School
Dear EVES Families,
Our first trimester is well underway and students are beginning to settle into a routine at school. Most of our fall assessments are complete and teachers have a great idea of where students’ strengths and needs are so that instruction can be individualized for the remainder of the year.
By now, you have hopefully had a chance to meet with your child’s teacher during Parent/Teacher Conferences. Thanks to those of you who attended, as it is important that, as parents, you are aware of how and what your child is doing in school.
I wanted to take the opportunity to acknowledge our Student Council Coordinators. From the parent side, a huge thanks goes out to Linda Zilar and Sherryl Essex for taking the time to support our Student Council. Scott Pell, Counselor, and Katie Botkins, Special Education Teacher, are our school sponsors. One of the Student Council’s first tasks was to get the Vail Valley Food Drive underway. THANK YOU for all your hard work. There’s more information about Student Council in this newsletter.
In closing, I would like to thank all the parents, students, teachers, staff members, and community members for supporting us at Wild West Day. Each elementary school realized a fundraising profit of around $19,000. The money will be well spent on our students at EVES.
Enthusiastically,
Monica Lammers
Monica Lammers

TO: Parents of All Bus Riders
FROM: Transportation Department
This letter is to inform you of the district’s procedures for bus notes.
Bus notes are used to permit students to use an alternative bus stop for various reasons and are required for the safety of students. Students that do not furnish an appropriate note will not be permitted to disembark at any stop other than their assigned stop or will be returned to school.
Bus notes must be legible and given to the school’s office first thing in the morning for an approved signature.
Notes should include the bus stop/street name and the date(s) required or lengths of time i.e.; the remainder of the school year. Notes that do not specify dates or a period of time will be accepted for that day only. Please include a contact phone number for questions and/or emergencies. A signature from both parent or guardian and school official is necessary.
Students must furnish the properly signed note to the bus driver as he/she boards the bus.
Please call me should you have any further questions at 328-1939.
Thank you,
Melanie McMichael
Director of Transportation
To: Moms and Dads Who Drop Students Off in the Morning
Please be reminded of our drop-off procedures at EVES. If you are a parent who delivers your child(ren) to school in the morning, please adhere to the guidelines below for a smoother process…
1. Pull up as far as you can through our “circle”.
2. Help your child(ren) with their backpacks as quickly as possible.
3. Say a quick “good-bye” and drive away.
Please do not leave your vehicle in the circle to go into the building. If you need to go into the building with your child(ren), there are plenty of parking spaces for you to pull into and park. When vehicles are left in the circle un-manned, they disrupt the flow of traffic and make it difficult for others to be dropped off.
Thank you for following these guidelines. It is important to do so as a safety precaution for students. We do not want them dropped off in the middle of the parking lot.
