Dear EVES Families,

As the weather starts to turn in Colorado, I would like to open our November newsletter with a reminder to equip your children with the appropriate gear for winter. Students are expected to be outside for recess unless the temperature dips below 0 degrees Fahrenheit. It is important that your children are ready to be outside. Multiple layers are highly recommended so students can adjust accordingly during the day.

I would like to take the opportunity to share some good news with
everyone. Eagle Valley Elementary School is now officially a Candidate
School for the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Program. Our
first application was approved. Our teachers have been working diligently
for the last year and half to increase their knowledge base and begin to write curriculum for the thematic units. I am proud to say that our first unit “openers” were a success on Friday, October 24th. Our students had a focused opportunity to experience inquiry as they caught a glimpse of their up-coming integrated topic. The rigor and high level of thinking involved in an inquiry-based classroom has created an energetic buzz at
Eagle Valley.

As part of the EVES community, if you are interested in the implementation of such programs like IB, or the accountability measures and impact on our school, feel free to join me at our first Student Accountability Committee meeting. It will be on Monday, November 17th from 5:00 – 6:00pm in the Teacher’s Lounge.

A “thank you” goes out to all parents who contributed to our teacher dinners during Parent/Teacher Conferences. We greatly appreciated the scrumptious meals arranged by the PTA.
