March Newsletter
Eagle Valley Elementary School
March 2007 Monica Lammers, Principal
Dear EVES Families,
I hope this newsletter finds all of you well. The funky weather has certainly thrown us for a loop lately, with teachers and students not knowing quite how to dress. As you can see, warm sunny weather can turn quickly into winter within a day. Please continue to send your child with all their winter gear, particularly water-proof clothing for our wet spring snow. Hopefully we are done with the deep freeze we experienced at the beginning of 2007.
This month, our CSAP tests continue, with a window lasting from March 12th to April 6th. Please make sure your child is present during this period because it is important that s/he completes the entire battery of assessments. An exact schedule breakdown for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders is included in this newsletter.
March also brings our second set of parent-teacher conferences, scheduled for March 13th and 15th, from 3:30 – 7:00. Please call our school office at 328-6981 to schedule your child’s conference as soon as possible. We look forward to sharing your child’s progress with you at conference time.
At the end of the month, we will be hosting our Eagle Valley Elementary School Kindergarten Round-Up. Please call the school office to schedule your slot. If you know any neighbors who might have toddlers ready for school, please pass on the information. We will be conducting Round-Up on March 27th and 29th.
Please feel free to call me if you have any questions.
Enthusiastically,
Monica Lammers

THANK YOU, PTA MEMBERS, FOR THE WONDERFUL VALENTINE’S DAY CARD AND TREATS FOR STAFF.
NOTES FROM THE P.E. DEPT.
We have finished our Jump Rope for Heart unit in which we had many great discussions on how to keep our bodies healthy. Your children are incredible learners and have so much knowledge to share with those around them!
We wrapped up Jump Rope for Heart with a jumping event on February 23rd. It was fun seeing how much your children enjoy a physical activity that is so good for them. If your child has not already turned in their fundraising packet for the American Heart Association that was due on February 23rd, please have them do so.
Thanks so much for the support that you continue to give your children.

THE FAST HORSES ASSEMBLY – March 16, 2007
Sponsored by PTA
The Fast Horses are a Minnesota based Lakota (Native American) performing family who have been delighting audiences worldwide since 1998. Their career has spanned 3 continents, 6 countries, 44 states, and 1 providence. They credit their success to the fact that they love what they do: entertaining and educating. Transcending age, language and cultural differences, their performance focuses on the evolution of native music and dance and Native American influences on other cultures. Ash and Reuben speak eloquently about the contributions of Native Americans to contemporary life. They use poetry, humor, storytelling, flute-playing, song and dance in their program. The program is a key to tap into other cultures and to unlock the fine line that binds us all together as human beings. “We love sharing the knowledge and practices of tribal people.”
