Principal’s News
Happy New Year to Everyone!
We hope everyone had a restful holiday break with family and friends.  It is always a fun time to rest, relax and enjoy good company.
As we return from break, we will be heading into the beginning of our testing season.  Our Second Language Learners will be taking the state-mandated CELA test in January.  This assessment is given to all students who spoke or learned a language other than English first.
In the middle of January, our mid-year NWEA assessments will also be administered.  This is the assessment we use to determine yearly growth for our students and is administered K-5.  It is computerized and focuses on Reading, Language Usage, and Math.
Please also note that Learn to Ski information will be coming home during the first few days back from break.  It is critical that you fill out the necessary forms in preparation for our Learn to Ski days coming up in February.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us in the school office.
See you at our annual Fiesta Disco on the 25th!  Thank you to the Student Council for making this event possible!

                Respectfully,
                Monica Lammers

What’s New?

Congratulations to the students and teachers at Eagle Valley Elementary School.  Our school report card for the 2006-2007 school year, distributed by the state, is impressive.  We continue to improve within each student cohort, even though our demographics and student enrollment numbers keep changing.
The school report card was sent home in December.  If you have any questions at all, please give us a call.

Welcome, Kristin Jennings, to our EVES staff.  Ms. Jennings has joined our teaching staff and will be supporting our highest need areas.  She will be spending time with our 3rd/4th graders to alleviate their higher class sizes during math in addition to working with our ESL students.  Kristin moved to our valley from West Virginia.  Welcome to the west!!

THANK YOU

The staff at Eagle Valley Elementary School would like to thank Lori Hixon and our wonderful parents for the meals they provided for families before Christmas.   They were so appreciated!

AFRICAN ACROBATS ASSEMBLY

This 6-person group will feature gymnastics, rope jumping, juggling, limbo, balancing, hoop diving, contortions and human pyramid building.  This is the most talented and experienced African Acrobatic group in North America.  This assembly will be held January 7, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. and is sponsored by EVE PTA.

FROM THE NURSE’S OFFICE

Reminder – with the cold, wet weather upon us, it is always a good idea to send an extra pair of pants and socks with your child in their backpacks.

EAGLE VALLEY CHILDREN’S CHORALE

The Eagle Valley Children’s Chorale will begin it’s Spring semester on Friday, January 18th at Eagle Valley Elementary in the music room.  Children can come right from school for some snack/homework/play time.  Rehearsals run from 3:30 to 4:45.  The Chorale is in its 13th year in the valley and teaches children music listening, performing, appreciation and singing techniques.  The season includes performing opportunities and culminates with a concert at the end of April.  Email Director Kim Denning at eaglekden@yahoo.com or call 390-5133 for more information.  Cost is $155-$165 for 12 weeks.  Scholarships are available.

Omission Correction:  Sarah Cooper is an active member of Eagle Valley Elementary Student Council and her name should be added to the Student Council roster.
