Principal’s News
Dear EVES Families,
Wow, what a winter so far! The snow just keeps on coming down and students are having a grand time building forts and learning about weather patterns.
As a reminder, please be sure that your children are coming to school equipped to play in the snow. We take students outside unless the temperature registers below 0 degrees. It is important that your child comes with snow gear so that they do not come back into the building sopping wet.
Our winter NWEA testing is almost complete. February marks the start of our CSAP tests, with third graders testing first in the area of reading. The CSAP is our annual state assessment. They will be testing on February 20th and 21st, so please make sure your third grader gets plenty of rest and good solid breakfast on those two mornings. The remainder of the third grade tests, as well as the fourth and fifth grade tests will be administered in March.
Finally, a huge thanks to those of you who joined us for our Annual Fiesta Disco on Jan. 25th. Everyone seemed to have a fabulous time. Thank you to Scott Pell, Katie Botkins, Linda Zilar, and Sherryl Essex for working with our Student Council members this year. Also, a big THANKS goes out to all the parents who helped us with this event.
Stay warm out there!!
Respectfully,
Monica Lammers

NOTE FROM THE P.E. DEPARTMENT
We have started our Jump Rope for Heart unit in Physical Education. Students are learning how to maintain healthy bodies for a lifetime by making wise food choices, keeping physically active, and avoiding other health risks, such as cigarettes. Along with this unit, the 1st thru 5th grades are raising money for the American Heart Association. The money they raise will go towards Research, Public Education, Professional Education and Community Service programs.
Last year, EVES raised over $1,000 dollars for the American Heart Association. Hopefully we can raise even more this year. I encourage you to talk to your child about this fundraiser and the ways that they and your family may choose to be involved in it. Fundraising packets will be sent home February 11th and are due back February 28th.
In conjunction with this unit, we will have an optional Jump Rope for Heart event after school on February 27th, 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the gym. This will be an extra time that students can have fun socializing and jumping together as we wrap up the JRFH unit. Please make sure if your child stays for this event, they have a ride home or permission to walk home because busses will not provide transportation after this event.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

ESCUELA PRIMARIA DE EAGLE VALLEY
Febrero 2008
Noticias de la principal
Estimadas familias EVES,
¡Caramba!
Gracias a Scott Pell, Katie Botkins.
Respetuosamente,
Monica Lammers
